Second Week of Underwater Discovery

The second week of Underwater Discovery was the most interesting for the students of this group. It was not the week of practice but that of real work and investigation of the Caribbean Sea. On Monday students took a trip to a Whale Shoals. They also tried snorkeling and research at night for the first time. Tuesday was free diving day. On Wednesday they finished their marine project and summarized the data and materials. Today students of Underwater Discovery will pack up and have a big party to celebrate a great trip and an excellent time.

The Hypnotist

Last night we had a hypnotist come in to LA and hypnotize some of the LA students. Golden Horse was told to get mad at the Hypnotist every time he heard Lorenzo, and that is exactly what he did. During the part of the show when they had to race horses Islambec chose to kill the other horses and was disqualified for it. The show was funny and entertaining, but the students seemed to like the first hypnotist better who was here this past fall term.

How to Kill Your Free Time

During Winterim you may find yourself wondering around after Winterim trying to find something to do. While there might be activities going on at night, there's still plenty of free time following your Winterim. There is always plenty to do at the LA campus, as our campus features gyms, fields, and downtown which is less than a mile away from the center of campus. Maybe you want to get ripped before spring break, then you can hit up the gym, which is open every day starting at 3:30 PM. Or perhaps baseball players will want to get some preseason swings or some long toss in before the season begins, or work on your shots if you're a lax player. If you prefer to take in a good book, the library is always open, or if you get hungry downtown is only a few steps away. So while Winterim days might be long there is always something relaxng to do after.

Weekend Fun!

This weekend, we had a lot of fun activities to do. This Friday the school brought us to the mall shopping. I went on the go kart trip during Saturday with Mrs. O'Connor. At night, we had a trip to Chunky's watching a movie with Mr. Brescia. Sunday, the school planned to go play tennis but there was some mistake with the tennis court, so it was cancelled and switched to Fun World. Students having fun in Fun World, everyone got a lot of prizes. Pictures coming soon.

Week One... March 10th.

On Thursday, March 10th all students will be able to join various activities:

• Funworld (check it out)
• Bowling - big ball (just typical game)
• Dodgeball (kicking out opposite players)
• Desserts at Homestead (local at Mrs. Poulin house)
• IMAX "I am Number Four" (movie trip - check the trailer)
• Zumba and Yoga (exercises and dancing)

Bananas and Blue Men

Last night the entire boarding class of LA went to Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse in Boston- this was an exiting experience for all involved. One of our international students, and bloggers was covered in mashed up banana. Mike decided that the ponchos which were given to him were not necessary even though he was sitting in the front row! Mike then had to smell like rotten bananas the whole ride back to school. He wasn't the only one who was upset by this banana stench! The whole bus will smell like bananas for the next unsuspecting passengers! Over all it was a fun trip and to be honest it was funny watching Mike get covered in banana - that was the highlight of my night.

Weekend Activities 3/11-3/13

What do you want to do this coming weekend?

Think big:

• City Trip - not Boston, what about NYC? (or is that too far for a day trip?)
• Skiing -  in MA - No way!- what about Maine or Northern NH? 
• Catch a movie - not at Chunky's - how 'bout the IMax in Boston with dinner included nearby.
• Shopping - forget Walmart - what about the major outlet stores in York, ME or Conway, NH

Honestly we have no idea what YOU want to do but go for it - give him some cool ideas that do not include a Walmart, CVS, mall, local movie trip or hanging in the lounge. 

Future Winterim

Although Winterim is fun, there are many things to be improved about it …

· The off campus trips are fun they are often pretty expensive and students would like more trips within the United States, because they feel they would have more opportunity to experience other things through travel.
· All of the students have said more sleep, like starting the day later as well as more time to relax rather than going activity to activity would be beneficial.
· Everyone should get to attend all the same evening events that way there is no controversy and students get to spend a lot of time with each other.
