Making Best Friends Out West

All Creatures Great and Small Winterim had to hang out and watch the "animals" in the airport while their flight was delayed on Monday night. Soon they boarded and flew straight to Vegas on the same night the on-campus students enjoyed a "Vegas Casino Night" here in Groton. They drove a few hours to arrived to their Western US destination - Utah!

On Tuesday they settled in at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and had a huge tour and orientation to the large animal shelter. Today, Wednesday, the expected to work with bunnies and dogs. We hope they are having great weather and look foward to hearing from them again!

If you want to know more about what they are doing post a comment and maybe they will answer you with a response.

  7. Hi everyone! This is the group speaking. Colby does not have his own cabin, he is staying with Ms. Simon and Ms. Ruby!! It is beautiful here. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. Hannah and Becca went on a nice jog this morning to say goodmorning to the donkeys and horses. When they got back, they joined Nikki, Kristina and Jenny in their dance party outside to Waka Waka. Kelsey Hutcho worked unbelievably hard yesterday cleaning out the dog runs with her unbelievable shoveling and sweeping skills. We are excited to work with the kitties and explore the underground cave!

  8. Hey, Ali P.- Your own dogs miss you...They are wondering why you are not shoveling and sweeping here! (They are just jealous of the good time you are having without them!) Poppy has been sleeping in your room patiently waiting for you! Hope you are having a great experience. The pictures look great! Keep em coming. Love, Mom and Dad

  9. Hey, Colby. Everyone looks so happy. I am so jealous, I would love to be helping out. Just remember not to bring anymore cats or dogs home, we have enough of a herd. Now if it's a pot-bellied pig, well that's a different story. Remember dad only said, no more dogs!
    We miss you.
    Love-

  10. Hello Everyone!
Today we played and cleaned up after the kitty cats of best friends. Hannah met a new friend named Honey who she was overly obsessed with. She would like to know, Dale can i bring her home?! Other than Hannah's obsession, Colby discovered Hutch (Kelsey) is a werewolf because she wasn't used to human touch". Other than that, we learned about puppy mills and what they are and why best friends doesnt support them. After we learned about the puppy mills we went on a hike to an under ground cave and we got lost... woohoo. We have a dog with us tonight, his name is Jay-Z. He is a black lab, very playful. We will keep everyone updated!
    Peace. Love. Kitties.

    PS. Annie breaks hearts.

  12. Buddy asked me to write to say "Hi" to all his old friends, especially Dazzle. Tell them he misses them but loves having his own forever home and a king size bed. St. Johns is the 6th seed in the South East region so they might even play in Florida!!! Have fun. Mom

  13. So what I want to know is where was Kelso's awesome shoveling and sweeping skills this winter with all that snow?! And why did I have to clean her guine pigs cage a day or so after she left? ;o) Sounds like you guys are doing wonderful things for a fabulous organization - keep up the good work. The posts are awesome. Good to hear from you tonight too.
